The remains of Russian tanks are now a monument to the war effort in the center of Old Town Kyiv. There are also two cars that were filled with families before being shot by Russians.

Mmmm... vodka and pickles. These were the Ukrainian bohemians living in Kyiv who became my very close friends during my time there. On my last day, we listened to music in the park, performed by a friend.

This was when the Ukrainian government shut down the main street (Kreschatik) through Maidan Square in Kyiv, to create an unmoving parade of destroyed Russian military vehicles. There were threats of an attack that day, and people were told to stay at home. Obviously, being fearless Ukrainians, they did not listen. What music!
